Ivars Knets Short CV Prof., Dr. habil. sc. ing. Ivars Knets, born in Riga, graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Riga Polytechnical Institute (1961). Rector of Riga Technical University (since 1999), Professor, Academician of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, Full member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (since 1999), member of the Latvian Council of Higher Education, member of the Latvian Council of Science, member of the Senate of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, member of the World Council of Biomechanics (since 1990), Honorary Doctor of the Latvian Medical Academy, now Riga Stradins University (since 2000). Main fields of scientific research: solid mechanics, mechanics of composite materials, biomechanics, mechanics of biological tissue, biomaterials. Author of more than 200 scientific publications, including 3 monographs and 6 patents abroad. |
